Keys and the Gate

A gate will be maintained at the beach entrance to discourage public use. Keys are restricted to member-use only.

Beach Rule #11 states, "A gate will be maintained at the beach entrance to discourage public use. Keys are restricted to member-use only. Members who unlock this gate should relock it directly after passing". Members who unlock this gate should relock it directly after passing and not keep it open while or until you are done boating. This is not a reasonable nor acceptable time frame.

The LPIA will be installing a new security lock to better protect the interests of paid members. Copies of the key cannot be made in any lock shop or hardware store. The keys are numbered and authorization is checked on a signature card. A key may be purchased from any LPIA officer for $5.00 each. This will insure that non-members do not have access to our common property and will help reduce our insurance risks. The beach gate will be strictly monitored this summer to insure that non-members (anyone that has not paid or cannot pay the dues) are restricted from the LPIA property.

Officers are in possession of these keys and a key may be borrowed and returned to that officer in a reasonable time frame. This means, return the key after you relock the gate directly after passing through so other may use it also. Do not keep the gate open until you pass back out upon leaving. We keep the gate closed to discourage public use. We strongly encourage you to think of what the gate's purpose, as stated above, is. If the gate is open this defeats the purpose of discouraging public use. The gate discourages non-members from entering the beach and restricts the dangerous passage of vehicles without traction coming down our sandy, narrow beach road.

To obtain a beach gate key see the contact information on this site. Go to the link at the top named, "About LPIA" and then go to, "Officers" for the a list of the officers who are in possession of the keys.
